A man who spiked sweets with sleeping medication and gave them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two boys who were between nine and ten.
The defendant was detained after eight children and an older person experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody before a additional proceeding on late November.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She stated his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.
Ruben played a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the man had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in July 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "This year his family member had concerns about what was going on, for good reason.
"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC explained items including baby oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were located, and his stepson notified the authorities about his worries.
She stated the defendant went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six youngsters that night - that Saturday - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the law enforcement a second time.
She stated Ruben then played the "treat game" in a room of five youngsters.
